By now, I'm sure many of you will have known what happened in Paris last night. The entire country is now in a state of emergency, for the first time since the Algerian War. The perpetrators have not been identified yet, but these attack methods have the marks of Islamic terrorist groups; with suicide bombings and witnesses hearing shouts of "Allahu Akbar"
before the attacks were carried out. For the first time ever, I feel that our nations, our way of life and our very values are under attack by a hostile and destructive force that seeks to wipe us out and everything that we stand for. This enemy is not like anything we have ever faced in history. They hide amongst us, living in the shadows of our society, plotting to strike against those who are vulnerable. Sowing the seeds of discord in our very countries, in order to spread their ideologies and narrow-minded hate.
However, I won't allow them to break our resilience and fortitude. Their attacks only justify the thoughts I hold on immigration and multiculturalism even further. Our national security and even the very fabric of our society is under threat, but we will not cower or shy away while they continue to carry out their twisted campaigns of terror. Together, we will hunt down the wolves amongst us and bring them to justice. Soon, they will no longer be able to hide anywhere in our societies; every shadow will be monitored and lit up.
Many years ago, a powerful empire in the east attempted to invade Europe many times throughout the centuries and destroy our very way of life; their ultimate goal was to tear down the crosses from our churches and replace them with a crescent. They came in huge numbers and seemed overwhelming, and defeat seemed imminent. However, our forefathers found strength in faith, rallied together at Vienna and drove the invaders back across the Danube and pushed them further to the Balkans. It was their resolve that helped them win against annihilation, and it is that very resolve we can awaken today to face this new campaign of annihilation.
I don't encourage anger or hate. I encourage every European nation to stay vigilant, be cautious and never to back down. If you make a statement that is critical of extremism (regardless of what kind) and someone tells you "You can't say that!
", then they are part of the problem. They ultimately condone violence and terror, in order to avoid confrontation. Criticism and controversy are both unavoidable in life, as is pain and sadness. But these are part of our democratic values and are embedded in the roots of our society. Without them, there is no freedom.
Use your thoughts to spread reason and awareness, not anger and hatred.
Stay strong, France. We are all with you and ready to stand up for morality.
Update - 16/11/2015
With all the bad news that has stirred up recently, I thought I'd post a bit of good news, to balance things out.
I have now linked all the currently-uploaded pages of the English version of Taiga Warfare. Now you can all read it from the beginning, up to where it is now.
I'll do the other languages soon.
