Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Not much to talk about right now but I'll try to make this post worthwhile.
When I get back to my PC, I'll try and have the next page of Taiga Warfare up before the end of march. Being away has given me more time to write down ideas and sketch designs in my book. After I've uploaded the third page, I'm planning to create bios for the characters, factions and locations to add more depth to the story and give everyone background information to help give them a better understanding.
I'm also planning to give Paint Tool SAI a try, since I've been told it has more options and tools than GIMP. I'm not going to abandon GIMP, but it would be helpful to have more brushes and tools I can use to make my illustrations look better and more professional. If anyone can give me some hints and tips on SAI, that would be brilliant.

Reflecting on Taiga
Recently, as many of you reading this may well know, I decided to put my Taiga webcomic series on hold indefinitely so I can focus on finishing my upcoming novel: Chateau d'Argent. After working on the comic for nearly ten years, I've had a lot to look back at and reflect on. In hindsight, there are a few things I would do differently. If I had known what Russia was planning to do to Ukraine back then, I would've set the story in Finland, instead. In fact, I think it would've made more sense to have it set there, seeing as Finland is already an underappreciated part of the world (in my opinion), has a Subarctic forest region, sparse wilderness, and just about everything else that I could use to write the series. Looking back at my old pages, I must admit it's quite interesting to see how I've developed my art skills over the years. I've still got a long way to go in my creative journey, but I'm glad that I'm better than I used to be back then. It may not be the best drawings to look
Rediscovering my roots
Now that I've started the illustration process for my upcoming novel - Chateau d'Argent - I've been seriously considering the style and medium to choose from; something that will fit the dark, nerve-wracking, Gothic atmosphere that I'm aiming for. While I've been experimenting with pencils, pens and mixing the two together, I've really started to find my love for doing traditional art again. It's been ages since I uploaded something traditional on dA, so I might post some of my hand-drawn and hand-painted work along with the digital stuff. My page could do with some variety. I'm still looking to get it all done, edited, and published this Autumn.
In solidarity with Ukraine
Five years ago, I said would quit politics and concentrate more of my time and effort into improving my art skills and increasing my output. Lately, I can no longer hold my silence and feel I must speak my mind. What is happening in Ukraine right now is nothing short of barbaric. All the unwanted suffering, devastation and turmoil brought about by Russia's unprovoked invasion is completely unnecessary. To all Ukrainians out there reading this, I want you to know that I stand firmly by your side. Ukraine has every right to exist as a sovereign, independent state free to make its own decisions and pursue whichever path her people may follow. I believe in your victory and while some may have thought that you would fall in three days, I've always had faith in your unwavering resistance. You are the descendants of the Cossacks, a people born to live free and defend their homeland from whatever threat may come. Plans for 2022
Happy new year, everyone! This year, I have plans to focus on self-improvement and keep up my momentum. I will continue to work on the Taiga webcomic series, which I intend to conclude later this year and will have turned into a graphic novel. For the meantime, I have other projects that have taken priority, such as my upcoming illustrated novel - Chateau d'Argent. Lately, I've been buying books and studying the fundamentals of art. I feel that if I want to improve, I'm going to have to learn the basics, practice hard, and really push my skills to new limits. I admit that I've been dragging my feet for too long, and now I want to change that by becoming more focused on developing my projects. After years of disappointing realises and the scarcity of decent titles, I've decided to put one of my oldest hobbies, gaming on the backseat. I'm not giving it up entirely. I just want to spend more time on getting more ideas written down, more artwork produced, and making more of an effort

I find it kind of ironic that Irish Americans take it more seriosuly than Ireland itself. XD
